EXCITING WESTERN STATES ENDURANCE RUN 100 ANNOUNCEMENT! Rising Hearts x @guenergylabs is excited to share the 2023 WSER100 Indigenous Runner is @callie_fornia !!! SHOW SOME LOVE ❤️👏🏽 Meet Callie Vinson 🏃🏽‍♀️ I was born and raised in Orlando, started my career and health journey in Chicago and continue to explore all things outdoors now in Arizona. I wasn’t always a runner. In fact, for most of my life I was considered morbidly obese. But, through running and discovering a greater value in food, I’ve lost 200 lbs and gained a second chance at life. During the day, you can find me writing ad campaigns for the Starbucks account. And at night, I’m either doing what I can to advocate body positivity within the outdoor industries, helping to raise awareness for fellow native runners, or, going to bed early because those morning long runs ain’t gonna run themselves. We are grateful to collaborate with GU Energy Labs through our Running On Native Lands Initiative. We are in kinship with over a dozen supporters across the running and outdoor communities. This year at the 2022 WSER, we helped bring: -THE FIRST EVER LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AT TRAINING CAMP AND AT WSER, GIVEN BY HERMAN FILLMORE -WE SUPPORTED YATIKA STARR FIELDS TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS RUN (his short film will be out in the new year!) -WE HELPED ORGANIZE THE FIRST EVER INDIGENOUS RUNNERS PANEL -HERMAN HELD A WASIW CULTURAL PRESENTATION AT HIGH CAMP -WE ALMOST HELD AN IN PERSON RUN BUT CANCELLED DUE TO THE STORMS (NEXT YEAR!) -YATIKA BROUGHT TO LIFE THE FIRST EVER POSTER, INSPIRED BY THE WASIW LANDS FOR 2023, WE HAVE EVEN MORE PLANNED! WE PLAN TO CONTINUE ADVOCATING FOR OUR INDIGENOUS RUNNERS. TO HELP MAKE RUNNING SAFE FOR EVERYONE, TO BE MORE INCLUSIVE, TO BE MORE AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE. AND TO CONTINUE THESE CONVERSATIONS FOR US TO ALL COLLABORATIVELY WORK TOGETHER. THAT IS THE KINSHIP WE ARE STRIVE FOR - BEYOND JUST PARTNERSHIP.
