Hamburg diary... mixed with a Brazilian village. Let me explain: In May 2021 I took pictures of a village in Brazil. There I met Madalena, an old lady working in the fields and took her portrait. Earlier this year I came back to the same village to give her her printed picture. She was so happy. My camera was loaded with black and white film, not the best for capturing the vibrant colours of Brazil; I agree, but I thought I should capture this moment, and a few others from the village. Fast forward, it's October 2022 and I'm about to fly to Germany for the first time and I see this roll of HP5 sitting on my shelf. I knew the first half was already exposed but I couldn't remember what it was. I thought I'd give it a try. And this is what happened.. A few were double exposed. The urbanism of a city like Hamburg, mixed with a village like Barra de choça (maybe I should turn this concept into a more intentional photo project uh) In the second photo for example, you can see Carla's portrait, and the portrait I did last year of Magalena holding her photo. One photo, many layers. In the others, you can see some bits of the village mixed with parts of the underground. I clearly had no idea what it would look like. Some might consider these photos ruined, but there is something about the way they turned out that makes them even more special to me. As always, would love to hear what you think 🖤 #35mm #leicamp #filmphotography
