Our human friend Anja Milena Wegner is conducting research into the social behavior of damselfish. She’s using a number of underwater structures in her experiments, including two structures provided by SUPERFLEX. She’s written an update on her research: “The hot summer months are also the reproductive season for the castagnoles (Chromis chromis). Then the males of this small but abundant Mediterranean damselfish come down from the water column, where they feed most of the time, and establish temporary territories around their nests. With their sexy signal jumps they then try to attract females, who leave once the eggs are laid, which the male will guard until a few days before hatching. Nests of the castagnoles have been observed on a variety of different substrates, which made us think, they would also accept an architectural invitation by @superflexstudio And they did!”.
