Have you ever stopped to ask yourself if the program running your life is actually your own belief?
⌘We spend years being programmed from the moment we are born into this world until our last day. It starts with our parents which got their beliefs from their parents and so on. If you are a parent I am sure you have told your kids when they ask “why” for the millionth time, “because I said so”. Modern day electronics spend billions of dollars trying to program you. Think it a coincidence it is called “television programming”?” In the book, Hooked by Nir Eyal he goes into detail how our phones, computers, and tablets spend billions of dollars to get you hooked to them. By creating mindless habits around checking your device, it creates a self reward system of dopamine hits, or the happy, feel good brain chemical we all crave. We also get programmed by our teachers in school, religious leaders, and the people we choose to surround ourself with. Most people don't like standing out from the crowd so they will just go with the majority opinion, even if it means sacrificing their own values in the process.
⌘When it comes to going back to each belief and asking yourself “Is this true for me”, you may be shocked to find a once strong belief is no longer valid. It may take digging into research or just having an experience that goes against that belief.
⌘Our beliefs run the show. Research shows only 1-5% of our actions are conscious and 95-99% are unconscious.
⌘Beliefs that no longer serve us, even if we are unconscious to it may also create “dis......ease” in the body. Not speaking our truth, living against our own values, and trying to be the people pleaser all the time at the expense of ourselves will create unbalance in the body and eventually can cause real health issues.
⌘How do we find our own beliefs? It starts with figuring out your values. Then, it’s about aligning all of our beliefs to those values. If something doesn’t feel right anymore stop and ask yourself where you learned that belief. If it was something you learned, it can be unlearned. Don’t be afraid to question your beliefs. Once you get clear on them your life may just seem lighter & freer.
