2022 was an eventful year politically, dominated of course by the outbreak of war in Ukraine. This year, Germany also played its role in world politics and initiated important developments. Here is a brief overview of the past year: 🇩🇪 On 1 January 2022, Germany takes over the presidency of the G7. 7️⃣ The G7 meet at Schloss Elmau in June. The participants show unity in their solidarity with Ukraine, set a sign against hunger and decide to found a climate club. 🇺🇦 From the beginning, Germany is one of Ukraine's biggest supporters. Thousands of refugees are taken in, Germany provides financial, military and humanitarian aid. With more than 1 billion euros, Germany is the second largest donor to Ukraine after the USA. 💡 To ease the tense gas situation caused by the war, Germany agrees on international energy partnerships and opens an LNG terminal. 🚂 The 9 Euro Ticket in summer is a huge success! The response was so positive that the successor will come in 2023, the so-called Deutschlandticket. 🔌 Due to the high gas and electricity prices, the German government decides on relief packages and a price brake.
