T H A N K Y O U Thank you for taking an interest in me and my work this year! I’m taking a moment to not just say thank you but also to introduce myself to some of you new to my page. I’m Melanie of Melanie Eddy Design. I’m known for my sculptural geometric Jewellery and I have a business designing and making jewellery in my signature faceted style (for 15 years and counting). I’ve been working in jewellery now for 25 years and I think of my work much as a sculptor would think of their work - as an artistic practice. I just happen to be working with precious materials and designing sculptural pieces for the body. I hail from Bermuda and I’m dual nationality - Bermuda (British) and New Zealand. I have been based in the UK now for 18 years, and my studio has been based at The Goldsmiths’ Centre in Clerkenwell, London since the premises opened over 10 years ago now. For many years I’ve also done wider work within my industry including work as an educator, writing, curation and on training, professional development initiatives and supporting equity within the jewellery industry and wider crafts sector. As my wider industry work and the bespoke aspect of my business developed aspects of my creative practice got smaller so I’ve been working really hard this year to remedy that. There have been some changes to how I work, as I’ve been making space and safe guarding time for the development of new work and I’m really excited to strengthen this element of my practice! It’s been wonderful showcasing in exhibitions and taking part in public in person selling events again for the first time in many years. Don’t worry those of you ruminating on having a special piece made, I’ll still be available for commissions and made to order work. 😁 I’ll be communicating soon about some changes around these services for 2023.
