‘boogie auntie’ mix out now! via @auntie.ism 🔈✨ this one reminds me of childhood when my parents would have late night house parties. you know, when ur suppose to be playing with your cousins in the other room, but you can’t help but come into the living room with the adults to dance to your favorite tune? tho it’s not included, i will never forget the feeling when i first heard brenda fassie’s “vulindlela” or magic system’s “1er gauo” — never understood what they were saying, but the music moved my dancing feet nonetheless. my love for (all types of) music was identified early. the makings of me. so, while re-discovering some of these sonic gems, i came across some bomb ass afro-dance tracks, which inspired this next offering. this mix is full of synth galore and loops, exploring 70s/80s disco, funk and electronic before going into highlife (ugh that fela track stays on repeat) and rhumba (m’bilia bel... *chef kiss). not your typical afro beat mix. link in bio.
