Treat every shot the same! No matter if it is a step down, a quick stick, an alley dodge or a behind the back our movement should be similar! We like to tell goalies to “treat shots like they are top center.” If you honor the shooter like he has access to every spot, our movement to the ball will be consistent. If you believe that you’ve sealed your near post, causing you not to step, the ball will find a way through you. Unnatural movements like penciling or leaning against the post cause your hands and your stick to not attack the ball like they would on a top center shot.
