Here we are, back at the Castel Savoia, in Gressoney. Queen Margherita of Savoy spent her first holiday in Gressoney as a guest of Baron Luigi Beck Peccoz in 1889. Year after year from 1889 to 1925 the queen returned to Gressoney during the summer months where she was always accorded the warmest of welcomes by the local people (slide 7) Her walking and mountain excursions where an enjoyable diversion from the Regent protocol of court(slide 8/9/10). The castle, built at the behest of Queen Margherita was completed in 1904 . The architect Emilio Stramucci, who designed the neo-baroque decoration of the Royal Palace in Turin and of the Quirinale in Rome, planned a Castle in a medieval style. One of the room I liked the most is in the basement and it’s a true masterpiece (slide 2/3): a futuristic and incredibly complex electrical system. —— #guidotaroniphotographer #photography #gressoney #castelsavoia #interiordesign #interior
