$50,000 was how much I started with to launch KraveBeauty, which is now a multi million dollar business. We had no outside investment and I wanted to keep it that way. Bootstrapping has its pros and cons, but I was adamant in making our business free of any other shareholders coming in in order for us to uphold our true vision. In the startup world, we glorify and celebrate businesses that get huge funding and backing by venture capital, but it does come with its own cost. I think it’s equally, if not more important, for us to acknowledge more success stories of bootstrapped businesses growing their influence slow and steady.
