True masterpieces of nature, the rubellites aptly named “par de sapatos,” or “pair of shoes,” were found in 1978 at the famous Jonas Mine in Minas Gerais. As one of the most impressive and extraordinary gemstone discoveries in human history, and among the most remarkable from a sole crystal pocket, they stand out even further due to the fact that despite being separated upon creation 1 billion years ago, they fit perfectly together when combined at their prism faces, thus forming a single mineral. One of them is on display at the Museum of Natural History in New York; the other is a fundamental piece in the Sauer family archives, and will be displayed once again in 2023 at the brand’s flagship store in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro. 〰️ Obra-prima da natureza, as rubelitas “par de sapatos” foram encontradas em 1978 na conhecida Mina do Jonas, na região de Governador Valadares, em Minas Gerais.
