I realize this is a very unpopular opinion especially amongst psilocybin or “magic mushroom”enthusiasts, like myself.
However, I personally do not enjoy utilizing psilocybin, and I don’t necessarily support its recreational use or its use for everyone.
I personally think of psilocybin and psychedelics as a last resort. When an individual has tried everything else but nothing else is working.
I feel like a lot of social media has made psilocybin journeys out to be this light, fun, happy, bubbly, connective experience. And yes it can be, but it can also be really dark, really intense, and potentially really scary.
I hate the idea of people expecting to have this light, blissful, joyous experience, and instead getting hit in the face with their trauma, emotions, and life misalignments in a way they are unable/ not ready to deal with.
I 1000% support utilization of psilocybin for mental health support. I completely believe in its capacity to offer relief, healing, and honor it as an ancient plant medicine. But I do not believe that it is something to be messed with or taken lightly.
I understand that people will do what they will, but I want people to realize that utilizing psilocybin often makes what you’ve been suppressing rise to the surface. If the person does not have the tools or skills to navigate what comes up, it can potentially lead to a more difficult situation than before consumption.
I absolutely adore that psilocybin and the potential mental health benefits are starting to come into mainstream awareness, however, I want everyone to be as safe, conscious, and aware as they can be of what they are doing and what they are potentially getting themselves into✨
