*WE’VE BEEN KEEPING A SECRET 🤫 * Surprise! 7 months ago we gave up our apartment in New York City and have been traveling full time ever since! ____ We packed our belongings into a few suitcases and either sold or gave away the rest. It was both cathartic and stressful at the same time— after 5 years in New York City we had accumulated so much STUFF. ___ The funny thing? Our NYC apartment was so expensive that our monthly travel costs are cheaper than what we paid for rent. We paid $4500 a month for our 2 bed 2 bath apartment in Queens, and our monthly travel costs usually aren’t even half of that👀. ___ But besides the savings, the freedom we now have to spend quality time as a family-- whenever and WHEREVER we want-- is absolutely priceless. ___ After years of building and grinding, it feels so good to be living our dreams of financial and location independence. (For those asking, husband took an early retirement, I work as a freelance journalist & content creator because I want to, not because I have to.) If I can impart any advice, it’s to remember that you don’t need anybody’s permission to design the life you want. We’re currently in Germany for the holidays but will soon head to one of our favorite warm-weather destinations for a month-long stay (pending my husband’s recovery from his back injury of course)! ___ Excited to see what adventures 2022 will bring!
