On April 1st 2017, we met Cynthia Trujillo for the first time in Tuba City at a fashion show. My daughter Naiomi (Bear), had tagged along with me as I was going to interview a designer. She had decided to come with me last minute, so she was dressed in work clothes because she was going to volunteer with dad and brother at another event. As we got to fashion show I went looking for my interview as Bear wandered around at the pop up shops in the event. As I came back out I went looking for her and I walked by Cynthia's set up, she asked me if that was my daughter pointing at Bear. She wanted her to model her designs in the show. She had asked her but hadn't gotten an answer. I walked over to ask Bear. She said, I'm in boots and no make up or hair done however Cynthia and I somehow convinced her. And that was her first fashion show. And it even ended up in Navajo Times! So much has happened for her since then. I always am grateful Cynthia asked my lil Bear to step out of her comfort zone and do something she didn't think she would ever do. Cynthia will never know no matter how many thank you(s) I say, that day God used her to answer a little girls wildest dream. We are given daily opportunities to be kind, encourage someone, and many times we are unaware we are the angels answering prayers. If you have ever done something and think it's a little thing, know that it isn't, you could be something that one person needed. Cynthia messaged us earlier this week to see if Naiomi could model for her at Navajo Nation Fair and we had to tell her she couldn't because we were flying out that day. Bear was pretty bummed because she wanted to say yes since it's Cynthia asking. Then I remembered Totah festival was happening so I messaged Cynthia and let her know she could model for her there. And now we are headed to Farm town. I think about that day this morning as we leave to meet Cynthia so Bear can model for her at the Totah Festival in Farmington,NM.
