Today marks the three-year anniversary of my bottom surgery 🦋🌻 (aka SRS, GRS, GCS, etc), and I am forever grateful that I had the chance to do it. Was it a hard surgery? You bet. Was it worth it? Hell yes. I debated over whether or not I would make a celebratory post about my surgery. We live in a world where so many people are obsessed with trans people’s body parts and how and why we do or do not physically transition. Everyone's transition looks different. Everyone's transition is valid. Everyone's transition is exactly that — it’s YOURS. Do what you got to do for you and f*ck anyone trying to dictate your body. All across the country right now, there is a ludicrous fight over trans bodies and the legitimacy of our bodies. My home state of Missouri (among many others) continues to trifle with trans livelihood, and this will come back to bite them. Everything going on is ultimately a fight over bodily autonomy, and that fight impacts everyone who is not a straight, cisgender white man. If they’re coming for my rights, you better believe they’re coming for yours.
