Emergency crews in Nome, Alaska, are urgently searching for a missing aircraft. The Bering Air Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX, registered as N321BA, was carrying 10 passengers when it departed from Unalakleet on a scheduled flight to Nome but vanished en route. The aircraft last made contact shortly after takeoff before disappearing from radar. Search and rescue teams, including local authorities and the Alaska Air National Guard, have launched a coordinated ground and aerial search. Officials are urging residents in remote areas to report any signs of wreckage as efforts intensify. A Cessna 208 N331BA operated by Bering Air with 10 people on board has gone missing today in Alaska. This is the 3rd plane crash here in the past 7 days. The other 2 I personally saw while out flying my plane. Flight tracking shows it going missing at 1223 UTC Feb 7th. Flight tracking shows Bering Air launched their own search and rescue when it was overdue, an H125 helicopter N152AH @ 0116 UTC. A USCG C-130 from Kodiak will be arriving over the search area momentarily. An additional USAF C-130 from Anchorage is about 1 hour out. 7:30pm - An additional C-130 from JBER, 15-5827, is currently enroute and approximately 1 hour from the search area. 7:48pm - USCG SAR C-130 is now over the search area. 8:04pm - USCG C-130 is now doing low level searches below 1,000' AGL East of Nome. C-130 disappeared from tracking due to remote area and low level flying.
