Agrimonia Eupatoria Formafantasma, Oltre Terra NAM Nasjonalmuseet, Oslo NO Agrimonia eupatoria is a plant belonging to the family Rosaceae, and it is often referred to as common agrimony, church steeples or sticklewort. Agrimony has an old reputation as a popular, domestic medicinal herb, being a simple well known since the time of Pliny the Elder. The common agrimony grows as a deciduous, perennial herbaceous plant and reached heights of up to 100 cm, and it is characterized by its typical serrated edged pinnate leaves. The entire plant is dark green in color and has numerous soft hairs. As a result of the high pollen content of the flowers, hoverflies, flies and honey bees are attracted to them, and they are also an important food source for butterflies. Pollinated flowers develop fruits with hooks that enable them to attach to animal fur and clothing. These seeds attach to passing grazing animals, such as cattle, sheep and deer, and spread over a wide area promoting their dissemination.
