Seven years ago today, November 15, 2015, the MPD murdered Jamar Clark within 61secs of arriving on Plymouth Ave N. In seven years, we have not seen justice for Jamar or so many more of our family, friends, and community members that have and continue to suffer violence at the hands of the police. For years, the MPD has been complacent and outdated in their perspective on how to keep us safe, and even now, Mayor Frey disrespects Jamar’s memory by proposing to double the police budget and give them 400 MILLION DOLLARS to terrorize, maim, and murder Black people over and over again. Instead of helping to sustain healthy community dynamics that prevent crime, the MPD’s bloated budget and tired tactics take resources out of the hands of Minneapolis residents who know how to take care of each other.
Join us TODAY at City Hall to demand a budget that puts the safety of Minneapolis residents first, and that honors the memory and legacy of Jamar, George, Daunte, Dolal, and so many more slain by the police. You can sign up to testify, get more information, and learn more about the budget fight at: blt.ly/MinneapolisPeoplesBudget #FundOurCommunities #InvestInUs #FundCommunityNeeds
