On May 31st @vice published an article titled: ‘‘How to not be boring, according to a boredom experiment.’’ Part of the article reads: ‘‘If you don’t want to be boring, DON’T: talk too much, or too little, don’t be a data analyst, don’t sleep, pray or do math. DO: Talk exactly the right amount. It’s not difficult.’’ The psychologists involved and the tests run concluded somehow the same as ‘‘The Boring’’ section of JACH’s People Gone Wrong project. ---------------------- BORING ARE THOSE WHO TALK ONLY ABOUT THEMSELVES KEEP BORING "He who feels special and superior, perhaps favored by luck, sees his reflection in a cloudy lake, which distorts him, but from which he can no longer look away. Despite attempts from the most refined education, to make us consider others and be polite, no one sees beyond themselves. Or do we? When we seem to care for others, are we aware of our ulterior purposes? Or, are our good deeds driven by guilt? By fear? By our own need to feel good, to belong, to be accepted? It is pitiful when our desperation to be liked shows out, when we insist on the single subject of ourselves, when the other does not even appear before our eyes. We seem to be revealing our poor desire to appear on any list, on any map... on which one? Is it God’s? And why is it pitiful? Because it reveals us as selfish but needy. Our cry for applause doesn’t need the other as a person, but as a praise, as ears, as clapping hands, it uses the others as it despises them.
