you know what i love about being a woman? owning our own ways of womanhood; knowing that clothing, or hair, or makeup, or body type, or sexuality doesn’t decide womanhood. what defines us is our resilience, our powerful vulnerability, our way of caring for each other especially in the most difficult times. our way of keeping the world spinning when it feels like everything is falling apart: Sisterhood. 💙 i spent so much of my life trying to be the woman that other people wanted me to be. tried to date men. tried to wear my hair long. tried to wear dresses. tried to wear makeup. tried everything to make everyone else more comfortable while my discomfort was visibly showing. no more. i take pride in identifying as a dyk3 (i cannot believe i have to censor this), while others have used that as a slur against me since i was a kid. 💙 it may not seem like a big deal, but it feels so good to have an ID that finally fully reflects who i am. for someone to look at it and not do a double or triple take in confusion. (next step: new passport) 💙 & I don’t take it for granted. our trans sisters are still fighting for those rights. we need to uplift each other and keep pressing until ALL women can safely and freely live their lives.
