Many of you know that aside from being a massive vintage lover I am also a very good fork!
Many of you may think that this is completely unrelated to the vintage boro patchwork jacket in the picture. They are wrong!
Early this week as I was exploring restaurants around Apulia I came across Trattoria Delle Ruote in Martina Franca. It was my last stop before coming back to Naples so I wanted to stuff myself as much as I could, after having the whole menu I started chatting with the nephew of the trattoria founder Giuseppe Ceci. Giuseppe was smith a leather worker, carpenter, tailor, green thumb, food lover and a great collector!
His nephew told me that he founded this jacket back in the 50s in a trullo in Apulia, the jacket used to belong to a farmer and shows darning that can be dated as 1910.
Italians that lived trough the 40s 50s would not wear something that looks used or patched together, but on the contrary Giuseppe was a man out of his league, when the brand Oligo approached him to be on the front cover of them campaign, he choose a patch-worked trousers to style the #oligo coat with.
I find this so interesting, this man lived all his life appreciating the farming culture, he would work the land, collect the tool to work the land and either collect the clothes to work in the land! Fanatic at 360 degree almost like me! Wish I met him! #boro #workwear #denim #denimjacket #patchwork
