Welcoming a new baby into our wildlife sanctuary is always a very special time for us all. . Broomhilda, one of our resident female Macaque monkeys who gave birth just 3 days ago to a healthy baby boy. . Broomhilda has resided and flourished at our Wildlife Sanctuary for over 9 years and was rescued from a place of neglect. . As can you can see she is a loving, very attentive, protective and gentle mother. . .And yes, those are granola bars Broomhilda is storing deep in her cheeks. . ***Fun Fact*** . The pouches are situated in the cheeks, and expand down into the throat area. In the wild sometimes food is hard to come by, so they cannot afford to leave their food behind in the event of a predator attack, and the pouches leave their hands free so they can move quickly through trees. . . . . . #bonnetmacaque #primate #monkey #notpets #bekind
