70 miles from shore — my favorite adventure of 2022 this far has been venturing out to Dry Tortugas. Because I wasn’t able to plan my schedule out 6+ months in advance, I did not have tickets to visit the far away island. From some research I was able to find out a way to get to the island by showing up, bags packed on the day of adventure and hoping that someone would not show up so I could take their spot. Waking up at 2am was hard but waiting for 5 hours in line was harder. To my excitement, I was able to get on the boat as 4 people did not show up and 4 spots came available (I was 4th in line). The long trip was filled with excitement as I learned about the rich history at the national park and got to experience a trip that I never had before.
