Turn up the sunshine ☀️
This little one has been so strong and so brave and we are so happy that this sweet smile has returned.
On our last day in Switzerland, Everlee took a big fall. She hit her mouth on a rock stair and there was pretty severe trauma to her teeth and gums. It was very scary.
We went to the local hospital where the pediatric department was kind and attentive. They were able to give her a cranial CT scan to confirm that no bones were broken, no trauma to her jaw or facial structure and no concussion. The doctor said that we could travel home as the dentist would not see her till the gum swelling went down.
Travel home was hard. Really f*ck'n hard. She was in a lot of pain and unable to eat or drink anything, but water, but with a lot of screen time, mini naps on mama, family love and patience, we were overjoyed to finally get home!
We checked in with the pediatrician, saw the pediatric dentist and finally met a pediatric oral surgeon to make a plan. We made smoothies and she ate them with an oral syringe. I carried her around as her legs felt weak and she napped multiple times a day with Jetlag and pain. It was a lot, but the doctors assured me she would make a quick recovery.
Later that week her two front teeth were removed and gum damage fixed and sure enough just a few days later she's making an effort to eat solid foods, she is feeling stronger and more joyful and more like herself! Her sweet smile and sassy spirit has returned and we could not be more grateful!
I'll spare you any detailed photos and just share this story and this smile ❤️ Thank you for all the love. This was hard, but kids are resilient and we can do hard things!
