Until Past, Present and FutureNever this picture was stored in my Mum’s cupboard. She took it while I was playing stupid made up songs for Dylan Lewis when we were filming the Recovery silverchair Special at my parents house. When I think of this time in my life, I think of my home city of Newcastle. It was just before we kicked off the Summer Freak Shows, it was my final year of school at Newcastle High. I was skating the day before with my mate ‘Chips’ in the Market Town carpark, Chips was in a local hardcore band called Disengage this whole scene inspired the song ‘Satin Sheets’ on Neon Ballroom. I can’t remember whether this was before or after I was kidnapped by @ajohns74 after the Knights won the Grand Final in ‘97. I love this photo because I’m smiling and because it was taken by my Mum. It also inspired the ‘Tickle Me Johnsy’ that was made by legendary puppeteer @jarrodboutcher and sits proudly in the exhibition. I love Newcastle, I still live here to this day. 90% of FutureNever was recorded in my house in Newcastle, I chose the vinyl colours of Red and Blue to represent the pride I have in this city, the marble effect of the vinyl symbolises the marble @mattyryan bust of present day me on the cover of the album.
