L.A. City Council Member Calls for Colleagues to Resign A crowd demanding the resignation of three Los Angeles City Council members involved in a recorded conversation laced with racist remarks quieted at Los Angeles City Hall on Tuesday when Mike Bonin began to speak. Bonin is the council member whose Black child was a target of some of the comments. The recorded racist remarks occurred during a meeting of Councilwoman Nury Martinez with two other council members, Gil Cedillo and Kevin de León, and the head of one of Los Angeles County’s most powerful labor organizations.
