It’s so crazy where the medical Instagram community is NOW versus when I started. When I started blogging, Instagram didn’t even exist yet, but it came up not too long after. Many of my mentors couldn’t understand why I listed my blog and social media on my CV - but for me it was something meaningful that had a significant impact on young women interested in pursuing medicine but lacking any real idea of what it entailed or searching for virtual mentors. Now there are hundreds of medical providers on Instagram, and turns out there are also *patients* getting their medical information from social media! At the end of the day, I don’t recommend you get your medical advice on social media, but I understand this is a huge source for information. On my Instagram, though you will find bits of the dermatology I’m learning and practicing, I do NOT provide individualized medical advice here. This is a space for empowerment, community, and a peek into the blessings (and the struggles) I deal with daily as a mom and physician.
