Carmel running has given me so much over the past 8 years, yet it took me till my senior year and 3 stress fractures to find why I really love this sport. At first my love for running was all about times. Chasing that new pr or the next place in a race. But then I had someone remind me that the reason we all sign up for a sport in the first place is not just to compete, but to compete with a strong group of individuals who are committed to one another’s goals and aspirations. Every time I lace up my shoes, no matter what is going on in my life, it can always provide an escape for me and place to showcase myself at my best. When I look back on my career with carmel, I don’t look at the time I missed, or the times I ran on the track. I look at the people who I’ve grown closer to and the lifelong lessons and friendships I’ve made throughout these years. I have experienced so much because of running and it will continue to take me places for the next 4 years. This is not a fair well, but rather a new door being opened. Peace out Carmel
