Waking The Witch
By Rachel Burge
'I tried to keep you safe, but I see now that I can't. They won't stop until they have you . . .'
When Ivy's search for her mother draws her to a remote Welsh isle, she uncovers a dark secret about her past.
An ancient and corrupt power is stalking Ivy, and her only chance of survival is to look deep within herself. For not every story in legend is true, and some evils are not what they seem ...

I love Rachel Burge books and this one is no exception.
I'm a sucker for mythology and retellings, so drawing inspiration and basis from Aurthurian legends had me completely captivated.
The friendship between Ivy and Tom created a beautiful platform in which to hero a quite dark witch infused narrative.
I loved how there has been a feminist twist stamped on quite a male dominant legend.
Overall.
Waking The Witch is a powerful story, bringing to life celtic folklore. I was fully immersed into the atmospheric world Burge created, devouring this book in a few hours. Although this is a standalone, the door is definitely a jar for a sequel.
This should definitely be on your autumn reading radar.
