"I was born to watch paint dry." —Ed Ruscha Happy birthday to Ed Ruscha (@edruschaofficial), who was born on this day, December 16, in Omaha, Nebraska! An exhibition of ten new paintings and a new hologram by Ruscha, titled “Tom Sawyer Paintings,” is on view at Gagosian, rue de Ponthieu, Paris, through December 22. In these new works, the artist takes inspiration from from Mark Twain’s American classic, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (1876). He eschews the gnomic texts for which he is best known and focuses instead on naturalistic images of simple wooden slats.
