As a young boy, I looked at Sidney Poitier as a regal man of great talent! They way he spoke always resonated with me for some reason. ⠀ ⠀ I absolutely loved the movies. Especially the trilogy of ‘Uptown Saturday Night’, ‘ Let’s Do It Again’, ‘A Piece Of The Action’.⠀ ⠀ As a young man, I learned he was the first black man ever to win an academy award. He also was a champion of civil rights that moved in the world with grace, style and dignity! ⠀ ⠀ The word “icon” is thrown about a lot. In the case of Sidney Poitier, he is the true definition of the word. ⠀ ⠀ I’m honored to have known Sidney, even if only a little bit. I’ve learned a lot from him, just by the way he moved in the world. (If there’s no Sidney, there’s no Denzel, Chadwick, Jeffery Wright, Cheadle, Omar Epps, Michael B, Michael K, and on and on!) ⠀ He is truly what is known as ‘a measure of a man!’ 🙏🏾🕊 M~ #SidneyPoitier
