Here's what his new Coach, Sonnieboy Blanco, had to say about Josh: Celebrating Personal Success Joshua Smith ‘28 When we talk about heart, grit, and resilience, Joshua Smith ‘28 is the first name that comes to mind. Josh consistently demonstrates a relentless drive, never backing down from a challenge and always being the first to step back onto the mat. Josh had an outstanding freshman year, marked by both athletic and academic success. In the fall, he earned a spot in the W&J Wrestling 3.0+ GPA Club, and in the spring, he was named to the Dean’s List—a testament to his dedication in the classroom as well as on the mat. Athletically, Josh made an immediate impact. He was crowned the 2025 PAC Champion and honored as the PAC Newcomer of the Year. At the team banquet, he was recognized as Rookie of the Year—an award given to the freshman who makes the most significant contribution to the team’s success. We’re incredibly proud of all that Josh has accomplished in his first year. His future is bright, and we’re excited to watch him continue to grow as a leader and competitor over the next three years.
