Over the last decade my family lost many meaningful loved ones. Since then, our generation celebrates during spring a day called “I Fiori di Erminia”, where we play soccer and tennis at our place with family and friends, as a symbol of the values we carry with us. Erminia was a loving, kind, present and humble human being who raised our parents. This year, my grandfather’s memory was honored by the the italian government, with a multi-sensorial space called “Snozelen” named after him. Snoezelen is a controlled multisensory environment, therapy for people with autism and other developmental disabilities, dementia or brain injury. It consists of placing the person in a soothing and stimulating environment to feel “the lost empathy”. We are thankful for this “ad memoriam” and we will keep carrying them with us.
