here are some pictures from when we got three gallons of condiments poured on our heads in a historic military theater in sam francisco! but wait i am making a little Emotional Post last winter i was in the absolute trenches, and sarah marshall invited me up to portland to meet her and carolyn and alex and immediately became three of the kindest, down for truly whatever in the entire world people ive ever known. we’d recorded together a few times — our first zoom call was while i was watching elvis movies with my dad at a hospital in boston — but had never met in person, and late 2021 felt like the first time in a long time you could meet someone if you wanted to. it had to be done, so i flew to portland and we all spent a few days watching movies and eating hot dogs and being friends. it is hard to overstate how hugely important sarah’s voice and perspective has been to me (and so many many people!) in the last few years, and how much you’re wrong about episodes with her and michael’s insight and questions and incredible empathy made so much feel possible. getting to meet her at all felt nutso lucky, and if you told me id get to listen to her talk about serial killers and have a hot dog eating contest and share a stage with an unbelievably talented musician like carolyn and get covered in mustard in a marine military theater with 500 people in it i would say holy shit, ok, let’s do THAT. and we did!! we talked about finding ways to say something interesting that we cared about and also get bimbo slimed and that those lanes can be one lane and that one lane includes jigsaw. how do you get out of your body and why is it a humiliation kink to some people to get out of your body for a minute? everyone deserves to be covered in goo and have a thought to take seriously, and sarahs work makes it feel possible. if you get a chance to be attacked by a 50 foot bimbo, i fear you’re missing out to pass up the chance. @yourewrongaboutpod forever and special shout out to the audience member who offered me a cookie in exchange for baby birding a bite of hot dog into her mouth. parasocial relationships are good
