How often do you compete in a new system? Emma Kitchen, Miss West Virginia Teen USA 2022, shares her tips: 1) Do your homework/Research! Every pageant has a purpose and you need to educate yourself on that specific pageant’s brand. This way, you can present yourself as someone who will promote the pageant system’s brand as their representative. 2) Be open minded!! Every system has different expectations when it comes to phases of competition. You need to be versatile and confident on stage, even if you are new to competing in fitness or fun fashion. 3) Don’t hold yourself back!! You can’t let your nerves get the better of you. The best thing you can do for your nerves is let yourself have fun. Put yourself out there; on stage and backstage.
