My brother is a walking miracle and there is no other explanation than God. This is a story I feel called to share To provide some context, Braycen was admitted into Dell Children’s Hospital Thursday night after having an MRI that showed a brain tumor. We were not allowed to leave the imaging center after the radiologist did a stat read on the MRI, and went straight to the ER for admission. Radiologist said this was highly suspicious for a glioblastoma. Friday, we received extremely grim news that his neurosurgical team was confident this was an inoperable high grade glioma, as it is on his brainstem, which has a very poor prognosis. Over the next several days, we consulted with multiple pediatric neurosurgeons and oncologists all over the country who agreed that his tumor was a high grade glioma, which was absolutely devastating to our family. At best, we were given information that he would have 18 months to live in the case of a high grade glioma. Despite this, we stayed strong in our faith and recruited everyone to pray with us. We held a prayer gathering in our front yard. People we didn’t know reached out to us praying over Braycen. It’s been the worst 6 days of our lives. We were praying for an absolute miracle. God ANSWERED. He showed himself to us through Braycen. We received the news of his pathology today from some very shocked doctors that this is a brainstem cavernoma, which is a BENIGN collection of vessels. For whatever reason, it became inflamed and caused his neurological symptoms he presented with (left pupillary dilation, right hand weakness, drooping smile, speech changes). The doctors reassured us this is something that is easily managed. He will be rescanned in 6 weeks. His inflammation has already gone down, and this cluster of vessels has actually decreased in size. In 3 months, they will make a decision about if surgery is necessary, which we are hoping it is not. We have no explanation other than God. Absolutely none. Thank you JESUS for this precious gift. We will go forward and enjoy our family vacation together more than we ever have. Time is precious, y’all. Thank you God for this reminder and drawing us near to you.
