We are very excited to soon be sharing with you the first part of our next collection: “Granny بيبي” This collection is very close to the heart of designer Aloïse, as it is an exploration of her grand-mother Betty’s Iraqi identity. Through this project, we aim to honour Betty’s original culture and heritage. While exploring how her role as a woman/wife/mother in England became more important to her than her Iraqi cultural identity and heritage. Drawing the complex lines between having to integrate, as a young woman, to a new country and culture (United-Kingdom) while letting go of a lot of the culture she grew up in (Iraq). Resulting in a dual-identity, with all the intricate nuances this brought to her life and family. We share this project as a message of honour, reclamation, understanding and always of love. x
