When Women on Waves sailed to Morocco, Gomperts herself docked to spread the word in a country where abortion was illegal. She was accosted by anti-abortion protestors. And Moroccan police boats chased Women on Waves out of its waters. But Gomperts was undeterred. On a trip to Portugal, Gomperts' mobile clinic was not allowed to dock. So she took her message to a Portuguese talk show instead. That’s when she realized: she could reach more people on the Internet than a boat. Instead of delivering abortion pills from the sea, Gomperts' team began to use the Internet to *mail* pills around the globe. Her team is still at work today.
