I heard myself in Elijah’s plea to police. I saw myself in his gauged ears. I felt myself in his desire to dance care free on a walk home. All deaths of black people hit home, this one really punched me in the gut. I’m devastated and angry to learn the details of Elijah’s death nearly a YEAR later! There is so much more work to be done in the fight to pull up the deep, deep roots of racism in this country and we will not rest until we see justice, reform, and COMPREHENSIVE legislation introduced, passed, and enforced!
