Happy 1 Week Anniversary to my first Essence Fest experience and a huge thank you to @plannedparenthood for inviting me to join the #standwithblackwomen house. I met and connected with so many incredible leaders and got to hear about the behind the scenes work being done to counteract the overturning of Roe V. Wade, which as many of you know, has eliminated the federal constitutional right to abortion–a right we’ve held for nearly 50 years. After the initial ruling, I was feeling fearful and just confused and a little directionless but after 2 days of work with @plannedparenthood, I am feeling energized and inspired. I can tell you with absolute certainty that some of the best minds in the country are hard at work for us but that doesn’t mean they can do it alone. It is so important to stay engaged and informed. There’s so much that’s in our power to do to serve our communities and to ensure that rights to privacy are upheld for the future generations.
