30 YEARS OF DJING (2001-2003): UNITY THE ISLAND, TAIKA, JACK AND REMIXING TIESTO Releasing my debut single Unity in 1999 had opened many doors outside of Finland. Foreign gigs started happening more frequently and suddenly I found myself playing at Roskilde Festival in 2001 between Basement Jaxx and Tiesto, DJing in Cairo and doing weekend mini tours in Japan. During these trips I've formed friendships that have lasted decades with people like Tokunaga, Parham, Alexey, Sam, Bo, Staffan, Stefano, Chris, John and so many others. The love and experiences around electronic music creates a special bond, no matter where you are from... Unity also led to remix requests from many of my alltime fave labels and artists and it felt unreal to do remixes for legendary labels like Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto and an official remix of DJ Tiesto’s future classic Flight 643. My own single Melancholy got signed to Tiesto’s Black Hole Recordings while remixing Aalto’s Rush together with Miika aka Super8 for Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats is still one of my all time favourite studio sessions.
