🔊🚨Today is the final day of #BlackHistoryMonth in the UK and whilst the month of October is used to highlight and celebrate the achievements, contributions and rich history of Black people in the U.K. and worldwide, we also celebrate the fact that many of these achievements, contributions and our history have been attained despite what writer Toni Morrison called “the distraction of racism”. Our #RacismIs campaign was designed to highlight that whilst the show goes on, #racism still exists; it cannot be ignored as the stats and the effects of it speak for themselves. This also serves as a reminder that the fight against it must also continue with the same vigour. Organisations like the #BlackMusicCoalition and many others, and also individuals continue daily to fight against #racism in all its forms across society, industries, and professions, but at this time we ask EVERYONE who says they are against racism to recommit themselves to the fight for change. It cannot and should not be the work of those who suffer the effects of racism to lead the fight against it.
