~ Long ass post that no one asked for below ~
I owned a film camera years before I was confident enough to actually try using it. I remember texting @hayleyaugustus.mcgee asking her if she would be my subject for my first film shoot ever and letting her know that there’s a chance none of the photos would come out because I truly had no idea what I was doing. We drove around Nashville for hours shooting in random places we found. When I got the film scans sent to me, I was SHOCKED and IN LOVE. Shocked because I can’t believe I actually did it right (and also proud of myself!!) and absolutely in love with how they looked.
My favorite part about shooting film is that you have to be more intentional than digital. You only get one chance to capture a moment, so you get to allow yourself to really focus on the composition of your subject to make sure the photo is what you want it to be.
I also took on film because although my hobby turned into my career (which is literally fucking amazing), I realized I didn’t have a creative outlet that allowed me to not put pressure on myself. I have major imposter syndrome and am very critical of myself, so shooting film kinda allows me to accept imperfections and enjoy what I shot anyway.
All that being said lol..... it’s a huge honor and exciting as heck to me that some of my BTS film photos (shout out @daratothejo & @laura.spinelli4 always) of my queen @mirandalambert ended up being used as part of the rollout for her new album Palomino. I shoot film on mostly every shoot I do with the hopes that maybe the talent will like a couple of those shots enough to be used for something important, so when that actually happens it’s awesome!
If you’re at all interested in seeing more, feel free to check out my film account @acaciasfilm! Also huge shout out to @boutiquefilmlab for taking such good care of my film & development 🙏🏻 trust y’all more than anyone! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
