Dr. Movement session working on my stabilizer strength.
✨After years in the gym environment, once I became aware of my stabilizer/postural imbalances and weaknesses I changed my whole approach to exercise.
✨Now I’m working on filling all those gaps I created by training in one plane of motion, the sagittal plane.
✨The Swiss ball is an excellent tool to use to work on stabilization strength. Because the ball moves in all three planes of motion (sagittal, frontal and transverse) training on it forces your nervous system to react as if you were falling. For this reason all your stabilization muscles get turned on and will produce real strength applicable to real life situations.
✨Did you know that 99% of injuries happen in the frontal and transverse planes and yet a typical gym environment training on machines does nothing to activate these important planes of motion?
