old but still a favorite 🖤 I came up with this concept because as a psychology major, I’m always inspired by the mind. It was a play on Carl Jungs work on the shadow, and an ode to embracing that part of ourselves and letting it be free from shame. I wanted to be in open space (the desert represents the psyche) and the black dress represents the shadow, fully embraced and no longer being repressed. “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious” - Carl Jung. We can only appreciate the light when we make peace with what’s lurking in the dark. Shadow work has been a big theme for me, especially these past few years, and as scary as it is I would do it all over again if I had to.
