It seems to officially be the end of #SummerStock season. (I realize that term is rarely used these days , as so many of these theaters have moved to producing work during the other seasons as well... but still...)I didn’t get to do alot of traditional “summer stock”, yet somehow managed to play Nancy in “Oliver!” in 3 different productions, 2 of them w/the late @davyjones as Fagin. Davy had played the Artful Dodger in the West End & on Broadway in the original productions. He shared incredible stories of his time w/the original Nancy, the incomparable #GeorgiaBrown, & his 2 Fagins #RonMoody & #CliveRevill . This was my first Nancy- @kcstarlight Theater. I later played it @muny & the #PittsburghCLO . Obviously complicated playing an abused woman who “stood by her man” , yet I loved her, & doing this show with amazing casts, including so many remarkable children . Fun fact : at the closing performance of this production, most of our outstanding ensemble members had all applied eyeliner & a beauty mark identical to mine for the rambunctious number “Oom-Pah-Pah” . I couldn’t figure out why everyone ( @christopher_sieber - do I have this right? 😉) was laughing & wildly gesticulating towards their faces ! I finally caught on & did my best to hold it together! Dedicating this #FlashbackFriday to all the performers , creatives & crews who sweated it out this season to bring joyous Summer Theater to audiences around the country !
