This time of year my brain begins to itch. New ideas, pushing myself to be more of myself, pushing the boundaries of film in the dark using any possible light and loving the results and wishing I could shoot more indoor events. Finding out certain digital cameras make me not hate digital as much as I used to & seriously considering adding yet another camera to my bag so I can get certain looks I’m really into while still shooting so much film. Having the tools you want is priceless, right? I couldn’t do this without my assistant. These cameras are heavy and I use several over the entire wedding day. I do this for the love of my clients and their guests. Because I don’t want to be minimalist in my approach to wedding photography. I want to go all out because that’s me. That’s what I have to offer. You do what works for you, but for me I’d be honestly delighted if I was a bride or groom and my wedding photographer was shooting on a variety of cameras for a variety of artistic looks. That’s exciting. Brain itchy. So many ideas. So much energy and burn to keep getting better and better because an artist has never arrived. It never feels “good enough.” I wake up every day at 4-ish am and can’t stop thinking about photography. I put in 8 hours of work before noon. That’s how deep I am into this. This time of year, man. The drama of downtime. My next wedding isn’t until December, but of course I have so much going on. I still consider it downtime. I love the way life and work feels right now.
