Councilman @keenantakahashi holding court at the “Book Club”, a stunning V14 crack that was discovered by @ignaciomulero and FA’ed by @shawnraboutou a few years ago (Molero did eventually send too!). When I first saw this problem in person a couple weeks ago, I thought it might be possible to climb it using mostly finger-locks rather than the standard layback, bicep-intensive method. Well, my hunch turned out to be correct! I spent one session sorting out the straight-in crack beta, and was able to send last night, second go from the sit! Good thing too— I was starting to feel like I needed a W after not sending anything “hard” in a couple weeks... oh, climbers- so achievement oriented 😂🙈. It’s so hard not to have that mindset on climbing trips but, I’m still definitely finding joy in the presence of mind and place, the “is-ness” of each moment, in the process of learning about each climb and in the beautiful hangs here. I’m feeling very grateful for the friends I’m amongst here too! Keenan, @ktlambies and @thiloschroeter are making promising links and doing all the reading.
