Isabella Plantation Trees 2022 Part 3 The Isabella Plantation is a 40 acre woodland garden set within a Victorian woodland plantation planted in the 1830's. First opened to the public in 1953, it is best known for its evergreen azaleas. Phyllostachys aureosulcata ‘Spectabilis’: A cold hardy running bamboo with a distinctive yellow stripe in the groove. Cultivated mainly as an ornamental, this species is also among the best for edible shoot production. Persicaria affinis 'Darjeeling Red': A semi-evergreen perennial, forming a mat of lance-shaped leaves. Daphne bholua 'Penwood': Daphne can be deciduous or evergreen shrubs with small, usually very fragrant tubular, 4-lobed flowers, often followed by colourful berries. Cobhay Debut: An evergreen shrub bearing leathery, glossy, dark green leaves. In early winter it produces clusters of highly fragrant white flowers in clusters at the stem tips. Lonicera standishii: A deciduous to semi-evergreen, bushy shrub. The plant may have peeling bark. Scented, white-cream flowers, often tinged pink, appear in winter to early spring on bare stems. Betula utilis var. jacquemontii: Himalayan birch. Is a popular and extremely ornamental silver birch. Native to the Himalayas, it is medium-sized with an open habit and pyramidal shape. Sorbus 'Sunshine': An upright deciduous tree with green pinnate leaves which turn orange, red and purple in autumn. Clusters of white flowers in spring are followed by golden-yellow. Betula 'Fetisowii': A slow-growing, deciduous hybrid tree with peeling creamy-white bark on the trunk and branches, and ovate leaves which emerge glossy-green in the spring and change to shades of yellow in the autumn. Crataegus arnoldiana: A deciduous tree with a dense, zigzag growth habit, thorny branches and shallowly lobed, toothed dark green leaves. Magnolia tripetala: Magnolia tripetala, commonly called umbrella magnolia or simply umbrella-tree, is a deciduous tree native to the eastern United States.
