🗝The Other Side🗝: In honor of our 14th year, we are excited to offer a small collection of skeleton keys this Friday { 9/16} at 3PM EST US to our permanent collection. These keys are based on the drawings of my husband, Aaron { @aaronhorkey } as I peered over his shoulder & requested my ‘dream’ keys. These keys represent themes from previous collections such as the largest key ~ 🗝‘The Key to the Séance Room’ { slide 2/9 } which is a nod to my Lily Dale collection & the Spiritualist era; featuring a tiny center planchette nestled within ornate flourishes, a symbol which has come to represent a kind of house crest for me. Of the three keys, this one symbolizes what I imagine to be able to be used in the realm of the ‘real’, the seen world, though its use is to cross the threshold into the realm of the unseen world~ the realm of our ancestors and those who have gone on ahead of us. 🗝 The Key of Endless Night { slide 4/5/6/10 }, is an homage to the crescent moon nesting rings of the same name, which is a love letter to the lines of the poem in ‘Auguries of Innocence’ written by William Blake: Some are Born to sweet delight / Some are Born to endless night & which pair with our beloved ‘Belonging to the Darkness’ rings ~ rings that I made ten years ago as an act of self-acceptance for the gloomy & ‘extra’ parts of myself ~ as a way to admit that it was ok to be out of step with the world & ok to belong/ to have been born to ‘Endless Night’. 🗝 The Key to the Other Side { slide 3/7/8 } is an homage to the time traveler, those of you caught out of time ~ who feel in the wrong era, or it’s for those of you on the threshold of a big change, the dreamers looking up at the stars & in need of a touchstone for the times when you feel that dream is receding, or it’s for those of you who struggle to sleep through the night because your anxiety or grief or rage wakes you up, or for those of you who are readers and the key to escape is through the fiction & fantasy worlds of books, it’s all of these things & more ~ it’s what I hope waits for me when I open the door this key unlocks ~ the other side is what we imagine it is 🖤
